She was the AVATAR, and Luz could see that Korra had several more years of experience, not to mention some emotional scars she didn't deserve for someone her age. Toph was a kid a little younger than her and Luz could already see how masterful she was of her element. If people thought being blind was going to slow her down, they clearly had the wrong impression of how strong Toph truly was].
